As you know, we have been on a bit of a dry spell for psp games. And this week isn’t any different. You see, there aren’t any psp games coming out in North America for the 27 July. Not sure why, considering Asia has like 1 billion psp games being released. (Ok. Maybe not that many, but it sure feels like it!)

Now, if you been waiting for a good psp games to play, then you might want to check out Phantasy Star Portable. You see, this is a RPG game which will take on Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.

… Oh I forgot. It’s ONLY being released in Asia. BUGGER!

Anyway, if you live in Asia, you can look forward to a number of cool psp games. Like, Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection, Panic Palette Portable, Phantasy Star Portable, Tengai Makyou Collection and Tengai Makyou: Daishi no Mokushiroku. (For us NA psp gamers, you can always try a site like this.

Now you may be wondering when psp GPS is coming out. Well, John Koller, senior marketing manager for the Sony PSP, recently confirmed in an interview with E3 that the portable console’s GPS attachment will arrive in North America some time next year. The attachment Koller spoke of seems to be the same accessory Sony announced in CES 2008 which proceeded the announcement of Skype support for the PSP.

Sony is currently seeking out other video game publishers who might be interested in employing GPS technology in their titles. Some may recall the hype behind Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops by Konami. This game quickly became famous for many reasons, one of them being its use of the PSP GPS receiver that allowed players to easily find and recruit additional personnel. While this added a new level of depth and functionality to the game, it also offered more portability by allowing players to step outside and complete the mission.

2009 seems like a long time to wait for this new attachment but as we all know, times flies with your PSP. Unfortunately, Koller hasn’t announced an official arrival date so you should certainly stay tuned to find out the latest psp details.

Now, you probably already know that Resistance Retribution will be coming soon to the psp. You see, this was announced at E3. Not to much fan fair too.

But things look like they are about to change for this psp game. You see, Resistance Retribution for the psp looks as though it’s gonna kick a@#. And the reason why is this.

… GRAPHICS. You see, this psp game has awesome graphics as you can see in the screen pic above.

Anyway, word from those who have played it so far, say they like being able to switch to an auto target. And the manual aiming mode gives the psp game more grunt. Now you may be wondering at the control set up. And at first it seems a little strange. You see, pressing the Left button on the D-Pad to toggle between manual and auto aim comes rather easily. The proximity of the Left button in relation to the L shoulder button makes it an intuitive change. SO it should be easy enough to take cover, pop out and take out a few enemies, and then aim at a few snipers afar without struggling at all. I think with what they have to work with, the set up is cool.

One thing we hope is that Resistance Retribution for the psp is not too short. What we are really hyped about is that its done by the same studio that did the Syphon Filter games. So if that is something to go by, Resistance Retribution should kick a@#.

Do you always strive to be the best? Are you a know it all? Like winning trophies? Well then you will love PSP new game Buzz! Master Quiz.

Emerson Escobar, the games producer, clued the audience in on a few things they can expect from the new Buzz! for PSP at E3 this week. First by answering questions within one second will constitute a “lighting finger trophy.” If you are an expert, answering questions within half a second, then a “supersonic trophy” is yours for the taking.

Trivia nuts have a few other features to enjoy with the new Buzz! for PSP. Three multiplayer modes, a larger single player mode which features over 15 challenges, over 5000 unique questions and 8 different categories to choose from.

Buzz! Master Quiz will give even the smartest kid a run for their money.

The annual E3 media briefing happened in Los Angeles yesterday, and Sony has announced new game titles for the PSP.

Super Stardust Portable
No release date was mentioned for this top down shooter based off orginal PSN game

Valkyria Chronicles
That’s right, Sega’s role playing masterpiece is coming to the PSP.

Patapon 2
Video footage was shown of this one today, and it looks great.

Resistance: Retribution
A gorgeous looking third person shooter scheduled for release this Spring 2009.

Sony also announced the launch of its new video download service that allows for rental and purchase of tv shows and movies via the Playstation Network. PSP users will have to download via PC or PS3 before loading the files onto the PSP.

College football fans, your day has arrived.

EA sports released NCAA Football 09 today.

Features include the ability to develop a fan base and build a legacy in the Online Dynasty Mode, authentic collegiate game-play and thousands of school specific plays. The trailer looks awesome and EA sports insists the game play will be like nothing you’ve experienced.

The collegiate game play engine offers arm tackles, over pursuing defenders, pump fakes, and huge cutback lanes. The player can also call audibles depending on formation. This wide open game play gives strategy a whole new meaning.

NCAA Football is available as of today for the PSP.

You probably know this already, but PSP game Lego Batman is coming out in September 2008. Now call me a freakin’ geek or something, but I’m really excited about this one. And the reason why is because Lego Gotham city is supposed to resemble Tim Burton’s dark vision. If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, then nothing will.

Anyway, Danny Elfman will provide the game music. Now if you are wondering who he is, then he’s the guy who composed all the music for the movies. Pretty talented I gotta say.

Now there have been a few leaked reviews so far. One person has said that Lego Batman doesn’t seem to deviate much from the established psp game play of Lego Star Wars, its just applied to a different universe. Even the same 2 heroes style is applied in this game, only this time you play with Batman and Robin.

This is sure to be one of the bigger psp games coming out this year. And they have just released a game site too. Worth checking out if you wanna see some videos and stuff. You can do it here.

For all you fan out there who weren’t impressed by the last psp firmware release, then I’ve got something important to share with you. The psp has a new firmware update which brings t to 4.05. Now if you are expecting something game changing, then you’ll probably be disappointed. You see, there’s a small tweak to the visualizations which you may already know about.

Now for those who listen to music, then you will probably love the update. You see, it looks as though the psp mob are adding more than one for us.

Anyway, you may be wondering if Dark Alex would sit down to include this in his custom firmware. Well, I would think that it’s just worth the time and effort for him. Especially for something as small as this. Let’s just hope he’s working on something “bigger” than this.

For those who are knew to the psp, you can get the update by going to the network updates.
