Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve got lots of emails from people asking me when PSP firmware 4.0 will be released. At the time, my spies told me early June, so I think I might have blogged about it. But weeks went past, and still no show.

Anyway, if you read the Playstation blog, you probably know that one of the main dudes released a letter or something, saying that PSP firmware 4.0 is coming soon. Now this is cool for everyone who wants it. Especially those who like to search for stuff.

You see, the firmware upgrade will let you access a Google-powered Internet search directly from the handheld’s XMB, provided you’re connected to a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Pretty cool. Also, you will be able to use the variable-speed video playback function is being added to the system. That means if you press up or down on the D pad, you’ll be able to speed up or slow down the action that’s being displayed from a Memory Stick.

Anyway, there’s lots of stuff they could have done. Like added 1000’s of psp games and movies for us. But it should be ok. Whenever they release it.

If you’re like me, you probably had some other gaming system before you got your psp. Like PS1 or something. Anyway, one of the things I missed most when playing psp games was the left and right buttons. I hate to say it, but I’m a bit old school when it comes to controls.

… But that doesn’t make me “soft” or anything! (Ok. At this point, my other friends are probably laughing at my pampered ass right now!)

Anyway, Acid Modder “Electro” managed to get the L2 and R2 buttons onto his PSP. Which is cool. Especially for “hard gamers” like myself. And The Rock! (Oh. I confess. I love wrestling!?)

Now, you may be wondering if the mod is tough to do. Well, my friend Electro rates his hack a 4 out of 5. I guess this means it can get a bit tricky to put together or something. But if you’re up for the challenge, here’s where you can get the tutorial.

Anyway, let me know what you think about it. Maybe if there’s enough people wanting it, we can twist his arm and get him to Mod “all” of ours.

You probably know how hard some people in our community work to give us some of the best applications and homebrew games. And you probably know that without it, our psp and psp games wouldn’t be as cool.

Anyway, over at QJ, they are holding a contest for the best psp homebrew application. (Not sure what the winner gets, but if they don’t get something, then let me know. I’m happy to “donate” something for the community!)

Now, this homebrew application caught my eye. First of all it’s pretty good. You see, it’s a shell application which you can use to help manage the programs on your psp.

… Yeah. And the best bit is this. If you have a good look at the background, it’s like the MAC Leopard theme or something. Totally rocks I know!

Anyway, here are the features of what Cpajuste calls “MyPSPMenu R 1″.

• Organize your psp homebrews/psp games in 6 sections and launch them with a custom cpu speed: Games, Emulators, PSX, ISOs, Applications, UMD
• Filer explorer:
  • Explore memory stick, umd, flash0, flash1, , nethost0, usbhost0, iso, cso.
  • Copy, paste & delete files/folders from/to memory stick umd, flash0, flash1, iso, cso, etc… (flash0 in write mode so be careful).
  • Create folders.
  • Rename files/folders.
  • View/preview images (gif, png, jpeg : 512*512 pixels max, 500Kb max).
  • Play a single mp3 (playlist to come with next version).
  • Show directory/files size.
  • Launch homebrews and iso/cso via wifi (nethost, can be bugged for now).
  • Launch iso/cso via usbhost in “oe” or “noumd” mode (with an umd inserted for noumd mode, no homebrew launching via usbhost for now).

• View battery, free space, date, time information.
• Setting menu:
  • Select/save your PSP cpu speed
  • Select/save your USB state.
  • Select/save the default skin.
• Quit menu: Reboot the PSP, Exit to XMB, Poweroff the PSP.

As you probably know, the PSP Slim is easily the best gaming system out there. And if you are planning on getting one, then here’s a review from a member of our community. You see, Connor put this together after I told him how I’d recieved a few emails from DS gamers saying there system is better than ours.

As any good psp gamer would do, I just filed their emails in my “SPAM” box.

And that’s where Connor thought it’d be best to make a video. You see, Connor thought he’d just put something together. Like a review of the psp. So he thought it would be cool to do a review of the psp slim. As you can see, if you are reading this and haven’t got yourself a psp, then get one NOW!

… Otherwise, your head will EXPLODE or something!

Now for everyone else who has a psp, I guess this is why we everyone else is jelous of us!

Yeah, the psp is the best. Hands down.

Hey guys.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something. And I got to apologize. You see, I got to apologize for not showing you some of this stuff earlier.

And you know what it is?

Well, they are homebrew games and stuff for your psp. You see, I feel pretty bad I haven’t shared this with members of our community. Anyway, from now on, I’m gonna be sharing them with you.

Anyway, the list I’ve put together is all the cool stuff I think you gotta check out. Like a small update to Dark_Alex’s custom firmware for the PSP. It like the thing you need that will increase the number of ISO games that you can play without a UMD in it or something.

Anyway, before you go out and intall it, you gotta run 3.90 M33. The cool thing about Dark Alex is that he has included it through the Network Update. You know, that guy is a genious!

For those of you who don’t know about downgrading your psp, just leave a comment here,and I’ll discuss it with you.

If you wanna upgrade your PSP to firmware 3.80 for whateva reason, then you’ll be able to do it.You see, the upgraded psp firmware has now been released. And you know, it includes stuff which will let you listen to the internet radio. Also you’ll be able to import channels and you’ll also be able to display your photos.Now, you may wanna check the Sony site for more info. But first, may may wann try and update this download via Network Updates on your PSP.

I was on the bus today and playing around with my psp when I looked over to the person next to me. So what has this got to do with psp headphones? Well, I will get to it in a sec.

You see, there was this woman who kept staring at me as if I was dumb or something. Ok. I get that alot. Especially from people who don’t know me. So I’m kinda used to it. (I guess that’s why my friends call me “FORREST”.)

Anyway, getting back to the woman on the buss. Now normally I’m not an a hole. So don’t think bad of me. But she kept staring and staring at me. And I just wanted to play Crazy Taxi. So she was kinda freaking me out.

Anyway, me being me, I had to get her back. Nicely that is. You see, what I did was turn up and blasted Crazy Taxi intro.

… Over and over again.

And you know what?

I’m sure I saw steam coming out of her ears.

Anyway, I guess headphones are worth it if you’re in public places and stuff.

Which sort leads me to this.

I was searching around Amazon for Xmas gifts, and saw these psp headphones. Now normally they go for 30 bucks or something, but they’re on sale for 20. Pretty cool I think. You see, you can always do with headphones for your psp.

And the cool thing about these headphones is that they come with remote. That means you can adjust stuff all from your headphones.

Anyway, if you want these headphones, do a search on Amazon. You’ll find it there. You know, I think these are a really good deal. I’m gonna get myself a couple of them.

Looks like the Sony team in Japan have been working their butt off lately. You see, it seems like a few weeks ago they let loose of a firmware update for our psp.

Now they are gonna release another one. You see, this time, they are calling it 3.80 or something. And it looks like it’s gonna release on the 18th.

Anyway, there are a few surprises in store. So if you don’t wanna know, then look away NOW!

Ok, maybe an internet radio is prety cool, but there’s one other thing you gotta love.

And that’s the recording function.

You see, the firmware will let you record shows on your psp IF you have one of those 1Seg tuners or something.

Pretty cool hey.

But I don’t know if this will be available in the US. I guess we gotta wait a little bit longer or something.

I just want to let you know Sony released the new update for 3.73. And the reason why they released it was to fix up some of the stuff going on with the UMD. You see, people were experiencing “freezing” during UMD loading.

So that is what they’ve done. And if you want to update your PSP, then give the run “Network Update” a go. That should fire it up.

Anyway, once we get some more feedback, I will let you know more about it or something. Otherwise, enjoy your day!
