The annual E3 media briefing happened in Los Angeles yesterday, and Sony has announced new game titles for the PSP.
Super Stardust Portable
No release date was mentioned for this top down shooter based off orginal PSN game
Valkyria Chronicles
That’s right, Sega’s role playing masterpiece is coming to the PSP.
Patapon 2
Video footage was shown of this one today, and it looks great.
Resistance: Retribution
A gorgeous looking third person shooter scheduled for release this Spring 2009.
Sony also announced the launch of its new video download service that allows for rental and purchase of tv shows and movies via the Playstation Network. PSP users will have to download via PC or PS3 before loading the files onto the PSP.

NCAA Football 09: Released Today!

College football fans, your day has arrived.
EA sports released NCAA Football 09 today.
Features include the ability to develop a fan base and build a legacy in the Online Dynasty Mode, authentic collegiate game-play and thousands of school specific plays. The trailer looks awesome and EA sports insists the game play will be like nothing you’ve experienced.
The collegiate game play engine offers arm tackles, over pursuing defenders, pump fakes, and huge cutback lanes. The player can also call audibles depending on formation. This wide open game play gives strategy a whole new meaning.
NCAA Football is available as of today for the PSP.

PSP Game Lego Batman

You probably know this already, but PSP game Lego Batman is coming out in September 2008. Now call me a freakin’ geek or something, but I’m really excited about this one. And the reason why is because Lego Gotham city is supposed to resemble Tim Burton’s dark vision. If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, then nothing will.
Anyway, Danny Elfman will provide the game music. Now if you are wondering who he is, then he’s the guy who composed all the music for the movies. Pretty talented I gotta say.
Now there have been a few leaked reviews so far. One person has said that Lego Batman doesn’t seem to deviate much from the established psp game play of Lego Star Wars, its just applied to a different universe. Even the same 2 heroes style is applied in this game, only this time you play with Batman and Robin.
This is sure to be one of the bigger psp games coming out this year. And they have just released a game site too. Worth checking out if you wanna see some videos and stuff. You can do it here.

PSP Firmware Update 4.05 Releases Soon

For all you fan out there who weren’t impressed by the last psp firmware release, then I’ve got something important to share with you. The psp has a new firmware update which brings t to 4.05. Now if you are expecting something game changing, then you’ll probably be disappointed. You see, there’s a small tweak to the visualizations which you may already know about.
Now for those who listen to music, then you will probably love the update. You see, it looks as though the psp mob are adding more than one for us.
Anyway, you may be wondering if Dark Alex would sit down to include this in his custom firmware. Well, I would think that it’s just worth the time and effort for him. Especially for something as small as this. Let’s just hope he’s working on something “bigger” than this.
For those who are knew to the psp, you can get the update by going to the network updates.

News PSP Game Coming Soon Brave

Ahh. For those of you who’ve played Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer on PS2, then you are going to love the news which SouthPeak brings us. You see, the CEO there has announced that they are making Brave : A Warriors Tale for the psp. That means we get to play this as a psp game.
Now there are some people in our community who keep telling us how good this game is on the PS2. We tried it out and were hooked. But it might not be for everyone. You see, some people think the game is a little too kiddy for their liking.

So if you’re thinking the same thing, it might be worth waiting till they release some screen footage or something. Anyway, from what we know so far, Brave is an action adventure game drawing on the culture, history and mythology of Native America.
You see, the new psp game Brave: A Warrior’s Tale is going to be set 70 years after the original. What we hear is that the content of the first game is served up in the context of flashbacks. And there are a few new levels as well.
Anyway, this psp game is worth keeping your eye on.

Famitsu Reveals 2 New PSP Games Sequels

As you probably know, Famitsu has just revealed that they are in the final stages of the psp games LocoRoco 2 and Patapon 2. Now you may be wondering when they will be released. Well, as normally is the case, they are first being released in Japan, with Patapon 2 hopefully ready for launch around the Winter 2008. And as for LocoRoco 2. Well, that is still yet unknown.
Anyway, I’m hoping the 2 psp games are released in the US. You see, if you haven’t played these psp games yet, you might want to try them out. And the reason why is because it’s a game anyone can play. Anyway, from the limited reports spreading the net, there are singing Mojas (the bad guys of the game) and a few new moves for the Loco Rocos.
I guess we might have to wait for the Tokyo Game Show in September to get the full details. From reports, they’re not likely to make an appearance at E3 next week.

PSP Firmware 4.0 Available Soon

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve got lots of emails from people asking me when PSP firmware 4.0 will be released. At the time, my spies told me early June, so I think I might have blogged about it. But weeks went past, and still no show.
Anyway, if you read the Playstation blog, you probably know that one of the main dudes released a letter or something, saying that PSP firmware 4.0 is coming soon. Now this is cool for everyone who wants it. Especially those who like to search for stuff.
You see, the firmware upgrade will let you access a Google-powered Internet search directly from the handheld’s XMB, provided you’re connected to a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Pretty cool. Also, you will be able to use the variable-speed video playback function is being added to the system. That means if you press up or down on the D pad, you’ll be able to speed up or slow down the action that’s being displayed from a Memory Stick.
Anyway, there’s lots of stuff they could have done. Like added 1000’s of psp games and movies for us. 
But it should be ok. Whenever they release it.

New PSP’s L2 & R2 MOD

If you’re like me, you probably had some other gaming system before you got your psp. Like PS1 or something. Anyway, one of the things I missed most when playing psp games was the left and right buttons. I hate to say it, but I’m a bit old school when it comes to controls.
… But that doesn’t make me “soft” or anything! (Ok. At this point, my other friends are probably laughing at my pampered ass right now!)
Anyway, Acid Modder “Electro” managed to get the L2 and R2 buttons onto his PSP. Which is cool. Especially for “hard gamers” like myself. And The Rock! (Oh. I confess. I love wrestling!?)

Now, you may be wondering if the mod is tough to do. Well, my friend Electro rates his hack a 4 out of 5. I guess this means it can get a bit tricky to put together or something. But if you’re up for the challenge, here’s where you can get the tutorial.
Anyway, let me know what you think about it. Maybe if there’s enough people wanting it, we can twist his arm and get him to Mod “all” of ours.
