PSP Games This Week - October 19

Here’s another good week for us psp gamers.You see there are four psp games coming out. Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant. Midnight Club: LA Remix. The awesome Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. And last but not least. Star Ocean: First Departure.
Now you may be wondering which is the best psp game to play. For me, I think I’ll be giving Star Ocean a workout. You see, it’s looking phenomenal. And the reason why is because it has that PS1 look.
Anyway, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows looks pretty interesting too and the reviews for MCLA Remix has been good.
I guess if you have limited funds, I’d go for Star Ocean.

PSP Game Macross Ace Frontier Is Number One

I’m sure you already know that the psp game Macross Ace Frontier was going to hit humber 1one in Japan. But I bet you didn’t know it was going to hit it so soon.
You see, this week, Macross Ace Frontier is not only the top selling psp game, but it’s the TOP selling game fullstop. If you have played this game, you know why it’s numero uno. You see, I guess there’s something pretty cool about being able to give your fighter a custom paint job while listening to “Holy Lonely Light” in the background.
Anyway, if you haven’t played this psp game before then you may want to consider it. You see, it’s actually pretty easy to play. Even if you don’t speak a word of Japanese. And the reason why is because a lot of the menu is in English.SO you shouldn’t have much trouble with it.

PSP Firmware 5.0 Is Now Live

Allright. For all of us who have been waiting for psp firmware 5.0 to be available for download, then here’s your chance. You see, if you go to the Playstation store or even to network settings on your psp, you’ll be able to download psp firmware 5.0.
So what’s so good about it? Well, there are a few things we like.
As you know, we mentioned in an earlier post that PSP firmware 5.0 would be ready for download sometime soon. What we didnt know was that it would be available right now!!!
You see, if you go the Playstation store and download it to your pc, or even update it through your Network settings of your psp, you could be enjoying new stuff.
If you aren’t sure whether to download psp firmware 5.0, then I just want to let you in on some of the new functions. Like having access to the Playstation store to download stuff like games, video and other things. Also you can now output video from Playstation format software to a TV. Perfect for people like me who like to watch movies in their room.
Also, the [Title Display] has been added as an option under (Video Settings). This is a cool feature most of us were requesting for a long time.You know, although there are a few things which have been added and improved, I got to say that this is not a bad update.
…. Now. You heard it hear first. Someone BIG in our community is already close to release a PSARDumper. (I’m guessing you know who that is already!)

Ratchet And Clank Part of the New PSP 3000 Bundle

Sony has finally released the latest version of its popular handheld console as the PSP 3000 recently hit the shelves in North America. The new hardware comes available in four different bundles including Limited Edition Ratchet and Clank Entertainment Pack.
Aside from the video game, this bundle comes with a many extra perks. For $199.99, you also get a copy of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets starring Nicolas Cage, a 1 gig Memory Stick Pro Duo, and a voucher that lets download a free copy of EchoChrome from the online PlayStation Store.
Although the rumors were flying for months, The PSP 3000 was officially announced in September, the third-generation of Sony’s portable console. The new model distinguishes itself from the PSP 2000 with anti-reflection technology, a brighter display and an easy accessible PlayStation button. Its most unique feature is the built-in microphone which can be used for gaming and VoIP services such as Skype.
You can probably expect the PSP 3000 to be available without the bundles sometime after Christmas.
Much Anticipated ManHunt Game Finally To Be Released

Years in the making, it looks as if Manhunt 2 will finally be released. The news was confirmed by Rockstar who sent word through the Games Industry website. Fans of the violent PS2 favorite will find the UK release date perfect as it is scheduled to drop this coming Halloween for PSP.
Just last year, the BBFC refused to give the Manhunt sequel a UK rating, pretty much banning the release. After making a few changes and winning an appeal with the Video Appeals Committee, Rockstar got the BBFC ruling overturned, thus enabling Manhunt 2 to hit the shelves.
It has certainly been a long battle for Rockstar who has had plans of releasing the sequel for some time. However, one has to wonder how well the game will be received on the PS2 which is having a difficult time keeping up with its successor. Perhaps Rockstar will leverage a few sells with some brutal advertisements around the 31st to entice blood thirsty gamers.
PSP Firmware 5.0 Releases Soon

You probably know already that the new PSP 3000 comes out tomorrow. And you also know that with it comes the latest psp firmware and stuff. Anyway, you probably know that it was coming to Japan. However, word has it that firmware 5.0 for the psp will also be coming out soon for the US. Now what that means for you is this.
You will be able to access the PSN and Playstation store from your psp. Something Mac users who have a psp will love.
But you still know that it’s not as good as what the Japanese have it. You see, Japan psp gamers get to download psp games like Yuusha no Kuze ni Namaikida or2 (10/16), Bleach Soul Carnival (10/23), Secret Agent Clank (11/20) and even Resistance Retribution.
I’m guessing that in the future, they will add this for US psp gamers. I’m just hoping it will be very very soon.

As you know, the new PSP 3000 bundle Pack with Rachet And Clank is to be released next Tuesday. Anyway, people have reported that it has been going on sale well before then at stores like Best Buys. Anyway, the pic you see above is from a member of our community who was able to get his hands on the new psp and take an unboxed pic of it.
I’m guessing the dude is enjoying the extra brite screen and stuff. Damn you! Got to play with one before most of us!!!

If you were left scratching your head over the summer with the lack of psp games which were released, then you will be happy to hear this. You see, at this year’s Tokyo Game show, Sony will be displaying a huge number of psp games.
… 15 psp games in fact.

DSi vs. PSP

Nintendo announced its DSi portable device on October 2. Added to the new DS hardware are two megapixel cameras, a slightly larger display and support for SD memory card storage. The unit will also have the ability to download your WiiWare content, play multimedia files and surf the web with its integrated Opera browser. Gamers are definitely excited about the upgrade but critics are viewing the move as a half-step rather than a full step forward
The Sony PSP already boasts several of the new features recently added to Nintendo’s DSi. PSP users can rely on Expandable Pro Due memory cards to accommodate their game, music and video files while firm updates enable the support of various file types. The Sony portable also comes with a nice browser and RSS feed reader.
There is some evidence that the DSi could overwhelm the PSP 2000. The incorporation of two cameras could definitely open up some exciting possibilities for game play. Another plus is the integration with WiiWare. If Nintendo could find a way to deliver seamless access through the DSi, it could be one achievement that gives them an advantage.
