Although the Sony PSP has been taking advantage of successful franchises such as God of War and Resistance, Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studio is not pleased with the lack of third-party games being developed for the hand-held. He states that third-party developers should see the PSP for what it can do.Furthermore, Yoshida says that Sony needs to show developers how other third-party games have been successful, citing on how well the system has performed in Japan. His claims speak volumes as the PSP is currently leading Japan’s 2008 game system sales list and has the year’s best selling title in Capcom’s Monster Hunter 2nd G.

Yoshida believes that games such as Monster Hunter make a great example. The PSP is a huge hit in Japan, as you will find people grouped together enjoying multi-player games on trains and in bars. With a demographic market already craving the products, Sony is hoping developers will catch on and realize that consumers are waiting.
